VoiceXML Forum

The VoiceXML Platform Certification Program certifies that the fundamental speech, Web, and telephony standards required by the VoiceXML specification have been correctly implemented by VoiceXML platforms.

Platform certification has helped to stabilize and mature the industry by encouraging the cross-vendor interoperability of platforms, tools, and applications. Nearly every leading vendor in the speech industry has endorsed the VoiceXML Platform Certification Program. Leading industry research firm Gartner recommends:

Customers should require that vendors demonstrate their commitment [to VoiceXML] by gaining formal certification of their platforms.

The VoiceXML Platform Certification Program is managed and developed by the VoiceXML Forum’s Conformance Committee and provides impartiality through the use of independent third-party testing laboratories. To date, the VoiceXML Platform Certification Program has certified 25 VoiceXML platforms.

The VoiceXML Platform Certification Program is open to all vendors that wish to have their platforms tested. Vendors can test their platforms against the publicly available test suite. VoiceXML Forum Sponsor and Promoter members who register for testing will enjoy the added benefit of access to a test harness to assist in local execution of the tests.

Platform certification testing for VoiceXML 2.1 is scheduled to begin shortly. To register for certification testing, please complete the registration form. Pricing is US $10,000 for the first platform tested, and US $5,000 for each additional platform. Additional discounts may be available to VoiceXML Forum Sponsor and Promoter members.

The VoiceXML Forum’s “Certified Platform” logo is awarded to any vendor whose platform is certified. Vendors are encouraged to prominently display the logo on their companies’ websites and in sales and marketing materials.
