Answers to Your Questions About VoiceXML

By Jeff Kunins

(Continued from Part 1)

Q: Are some VoiceXML implementations more compliant than others?

A: VoiceXML compliance/conformance is currently a work in progress. As of the launch of this issue
(15 February 2001) the VoiceXML Forum had posted the following interim statement regarding conformance:

VoiceXML Forum Conformance Statement

Currently, the VoiceXML Forum does not have a conformance branding program regarding the VoiceXML 1.0 Specification.

In the interim, the VoiceXML Forum does not officially recognize, endorse, certify, or imply that any VoiceXML implementation is conformant or compliant with respect to a VoiceXML Forum branding program.

The VoiceXML Forum reserves phrases including but not limited to:

  • "VoiceXML Certified"
  • "VoiceXML Compliant"
  • "VoiceXML Conformant"
  • "VoiceXML Compliance"
  • "VoiceXML Conformance"
  • "VoiceXML Conforming"
  • "VoiceXML Forum Certified"
  • "VoiceXML Forum Compliant"
  • "VoiceXML Forum Compliance"
  • "VoiceXML Forum Conformance"
  • "VoiceXML Forum Conforming"
  • "VoiceXML Forum Conformant"

for its future branding program. These terms will be trademarked by the VoiceXML Forum.

Promoter or Sponsor Members of the VoiceXML Forum can participate in the conformance activities of the VoiceXML Forum by joining the Forum's Conformance Committee. For more information this or any other activity of the VoiceXML Forum, please contact Greg Kohn, VoiceXML Forum Program Manager.
