VoiceXML Forum Holds First Annual Users Group Meetingg

Over 220 VoiceXML enthusiasts gathered for the first annual VoiceXML Forum Users Group Meeting on 5 April 2001 in San Jose, Calif. The event was a chance for individuals and companies with an interest in VoiceXML technology to gather with VoiceXML industry leaders to share issues, knowledge, and information about one of the fastest growing technologies in the telephony business. The event was held the day after the closing session of AVIOS 2001, and at the same venue. The audience consisted of application developers; platform and service vendors; technology consultants and analysts; enterprise IT and call center managers; and executives. All of the presentations from both tracks--Executive and Technical are available for download via the Users Group Meeting page.

VoiceXML Membership Climbs to More than 460 Members

Membership in the VoiceXML Forum recently execeeded 460 members. Aside from the four Sponsor companies, the membership community includes 51 Promoter Members and 408 Supporter Members. Only the Sponsor and Promoter Members can serve on the Forum's various committees, including those working in the areas of marketing, education, and conformance.

Boston Chapter of the VoiceXML Forum Announces Date, Venue of First Meeting

At 7 p.m. on 24 April 2001, at the Verizon Laboratories in Waltham, Mass., the Boston Chapter of the VoiceXML Forum will hold its first-ever meeting. Dennis McCarthy of Verizon will chair the meeting. Agenda items include a recap of the Forum's San Jose Users Group Meeting and a presentation on the W3C Speech Grammar Markup Language by Andrew Hunt of SpeechWorks. Having finalized its publication schedule for 2001, the editorial board of VoiceXML Review is seeking authors for future issues of the e-zine.
