Speech Application Engineer � Grammars &Tuning;
LOCATION: Silicon Valley (Position ID: AXG-1085)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support speech application development with grammar development and TTS tuning. Plan, manage and execute the tuning cycle of speech application.
Apply industry best practices to speech application development and tuning.
Write and/or optimize speech application reporting and tuning tools.
Use the company�s tool set to test, document, and maintain speech applications.
Run speech application performance reports
Communicate tuning schedule and status with Project manager and other team members.
Manage tuning data, i.e. call recordings, utterances logs, different type of log files
Manage transcription (run tuning experiments, write tuning scripts for different recognition engines/platforms etc)
Tune speech applications with Nuance/ScanSoft and the company�s tuning tools, write tuning reports.
Optimize recognition engine parameters
Write and/or optimize speech recognition grammars
Optimize usage of text-to-speech in speech applications, i.e. text-preprocessing or editing pronunciation dictionaries.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
B.A. / B.S. in computer science/linguistics or equivalent work experience.
Ability to quickly understand how a variety of technologies work and are used.
Ability to manage schedules, resources, etc. to deliver a quality experience on time.
Self-learning. Need to be able to work independently with the software to understand, validate and explain product functions.
Demonstrated focus on and commitment to continual process improvement.
Helpful Additional Skills & Applicable Experience:
Previous experience with speech applications, especially tuning.
Previous experience with Nuance and ScanSoft products.
