Hi, I'm about to start a new project which has an IVR component. I want to use VoiceXML and am trying to gather some info on the costs. My basic requirements for the first stage of the project are windows based, one or two ports, supports text to speech and voicexml. I've looked through a lot of the vendors sites and the prices seem to be extremly high. Can anyone give me some advice on any products that fit the bill? thnx

Is it a requirement of your project that the voice platform be managed on premises, or can it be outsourced? There is a pretty good article on outsourcing voice applications at http://www.speechtechmag.com/issues/industry/12008-1.html.
This approach (where appropriate) can provide significant differences in costs for deploying a voice application because it can obviate the need to set up and manage both the voice platform (VoiceXML interpreter, ASR and TTS) as well as the telephony infrastructure.
Voxeo provides this service, and their platform was recently certified by the VoiceXML Forum. Might be worth checking out. http://www.voxeo.com/products/voicexml-ivr-hosting.jsp
Hope this is helpful.
