Hi all,
Im planning to take up the VMXL developer certification. I would like to know more about the preparation for certification like
1. where to get started.
2. if there is any free online references to prepare for certification.
3. Groups/Forums to discuss regarding the certification.

You may want to start with the online tutorials at http://www.voicexmlforum.org/tutorials/intro1.html and then continue with developing small applications using one of the online VoiceXML SDKs. There are several books on VoiceXML: see http://www.kenrehor.com/voicexml/
The VoiceXML Guide http://www.vxmlguide.com/ is designed to provide reference material for those wanting to take the VoiceXML certification test.

Can you please reccomend an author from the list of authors on the Ken Rehor's page, beside "The VoiceXML Guide" CD ?
How different are the contents of this CD-Rom compared to W3C specifications for VoiceXML ?

Everyone has their favorite text book. My favorite book for VoiceXML is Chetan Sharma and Jeff Kunins's book "VoiceXML--Strategies and Techniques for Effective Voice ApliationDevelopment with voiceXML 2.0."
I observe that the W3C web site contains the official specifications (which are free to download). Many VoieXML developers have learned VoiceXML by reading these specifications.
The CD ROM is more up-to-date than most of the books, which are now a couple of years old. The CD ROM contains exercises, projects, quizes, and three sample certification exams.

The idea of the certification test is to evaluate a developer's understanding of the entire set of languages (VXML, SSML, SRGS, SISR, and CCXML), not just specific parts of the languages. While some parts of the language are more widely used than other parts, the certification test covers the entire set of languages. This is a lot of material. While it is important to review descriptions of the language, most feel that using the languages to develop appications is the best way to learn computer languages.
I think the best study material is in the CD rom which has includes exercises, projects and sample certification tests (My opinion may be biased because I wrote the CD-rom content.) The W3C web site which contains the official specifications, http://www.w3.org/voice", is free to download and review.

I am scheduled to take my certification test in two weeks and when I tried to order the CD-ROM from http://www.vxmlguide.com/, it says it requires two weeks for delivery! Is there any store that this book + CDROM is avaialble in?
Or, is there any other resource for practice tests?

Unless you live is some inaccessable part of the world, the CDs usually are delivered in 2-4 days.
