Voice User Interface / Dialog Designer
LOCATION: Can work at company headquarters in New Jersey or remotely from home office

Significant career opportunity with a world-class professional services organization in the IVR / Call Center space for a senior-level VUI Designer with a solid grounding in linguistics. Depending on the level of experience the individual has with dialog design and voice user interface design, the VUI Designer will be responsible for all aspects of dialog design to provide successful implementation of and assist customers with the development of speech recognition software applications.
Engagements are with medium to large enterprise customers, including several large financial services firms.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor�s degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Computational Linguistics, Human Factors / Human Computer Interface, Computer Science. Advanced degree is a plus.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Linguistics experience as it relates to Voice User Interfaces/dialog designs; customer experience; excellent writing skills; script programming experience desirable, with the development of speech recognition software applications. A track record of successful VUI designs of IVR systems for major call centers is highly desirable.
- Bachelor�s degree or advanced degree in Linguistics, Cognitive Science, Psychology, Computational Linguistics, Human Factors / Human Computer Interface, Computer Science.
- Experienced in script programming and working with the development of speech recognition software applications.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Dynamic personality and flexibility; ability to interact successfully with customers.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Depending on the level of experience the individual has with dialog design and voice user interface design, the following would be the major responsibilities for the incumbent to help the company work with its customers in the development of speech recognition software applications.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define speech requirements in a project
- Understand and apply industry standards in dialog, prompt and persona design
- Understand transcription process and perform transcriptions
- Design grammars
- Conduct and/or manage usability testing across projects
- Coach voice talent
- Perform application development using voice tools
- Use analysis, tuning, and transcription tools
- Tune dialogs
- Define standards for VUI design, review VUI for all projects
- Train, qualify and mentor other technical resources in VUI design
- Lead VUI effort for major projects from end-to-end
- Manage voice recording process
- Manage transcription process and transcription resources across projects
- Evaluate voice platforms / voice application tools
- Manage customer expectations for VUI
- Manage performance analysis and tuning across projects
